- Providing electrical design for 38kV thru 230kV substations.
- Providing detailed protection & control single line diagram for high voltage substation projects.
- Performing substation relaying & metering diagrams such A.C. schematic diagrams, and D.C. Schematic diagrams.
- Developing high voltage substation physical design.
- Providing support on project scope and estimating.
- Providing input to project cost and schedule.
- Controlling and monitoring design budget.
- Performing electrical system studies and calculations such as load flow and short circuit analysis, relay coordination and programming, arc flash analysis, grounding, and lightning protection system calculations.
- Preparing engineering reports, tender and construction drawings, and documents.
- Preparing equipment specification and selection and performing technical bid evaluation and making recommendations.
- Sizing and specifying electrical equipment.
- Assisting with field construction, commissioning, and vendor factory acceptance tests.
- Providing design for distribution power systems 120/208kV thru 13kV.
- Developing drawing for overhead and underground distribution power systems.
- Providing pole structural analysis.
- Preparing power distribution layouts, grounding and lightning protection system design and layouts.
- Performing Short circuit and voltage drop calculations.
- Providing support on project scope and estimating.
- Providing input to project cost and schedule.
- Controlling and monitoring design budget.
- Preparing engineering reports, tender and construction drawings, and documents.
- Preparing equipment specification and selection and performing technical bid evaluation and making recommendations.
- Sizing and specifying electrical equipment.
- Assisting with field construction, commissioning, and vendor factory acceptance tests.
- Ability to effectively interact with other disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Providing design for transmission line power systems 38kV thru 230kV.
- Providing pole or tower structural analysis.
- Providing conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies.
- Specifying transmission line components.
- Developing and reviewing transmission line models using PLS-CADD software.
- Preparing specifications for transmission line materials.
- Developing transmission line plan and profile drawings and construction documents
- Designing based on the right of way requirements, and conductor sags/tensions.
- Providing support on project scope and estimating.
- Providing input to project cost and schedule.
- Controlling and monitoring design budget.
- Preparing engineering reports, tender and construction drawings, and documents.
- Preparing equipment specification and selection and performing technical bid evaluation and making recommendations.
- Sizing and specifying electrical equipment.
- Assisting with field construction, commissioning, and vendor factory acceptance tests.
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred. This level may be achieved by Engineers with seven years of experience since B.S. or 6 years since M.S.
- Typical incumbent has ten to fourteen years of experience.
- Have solid engineering design background in power, industrial and high voltage substations (AIS and GIS).
- Strong knowledge in applicable codes and standards (NEC, ANSI/ IEEE).
- Knowledge in physical distribution design methods and application.
- Have leadership skills to lead projects and engineering design team.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on client management.
- Valid P.E. in Puerto Rico, US or have NCEES record.
- Experienced in equipment sizing, specification, and selection (transformers, generators, motors, HV substation equipment AIS and GIS physical layout, elevation, conductor and bus bar sizing/selection, and material selection).
- Experienced in developing one-line diagrams, 3-line diagrams, schematic diagrams.
- Experienced in power system studies (load flow, short circuity, arc flash, relay coordination, grounding/lightning protection system,).
- Experienced in reviewing design drawings created by others.
- Familiar with power system analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, Easy Power, WinIGS, CDEGS.
- Familiar with the following software PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, PoleForeman.
- AutoCAD experience.
- Experienced in Bill of Material and Cost Estimate.
