- The teacher directs and supervises teacher assistants and paraprofessionals.
- Teachers must train the teacher assistant and paraprofessionals in the specific of the instruction, evaluate student progress and monitor the effectiveness of teacher assistant's and paraprofessional's implementation of the instructional and behavior management strategies
- Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive environment
- Oversee pre-and post-testing of students
- Employ special educational strategies, modifications, adaptations, and techniques
- Instruct students in academic subjects using a variety of techniques such as phonetics, multi-sensory
- Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports on children and activities, as
- Coordinate and assist in parent meetings
- Provide support with staff and evaluate their performance
- Maintain effective and assertive communication with staff, parents, and supervisor
- When needed, Work 1:1 with students
- Ensure effective communication between home and school with appropriate in-person parent communication and home note documentation
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate these objectives to students
- Lead, participate or supervise crisis interventions, as needed.
- Assist and supervise the collection of data for providing appropriate classroom interventions
- Maintain professional competence by participating in staff development activities, curriculum
work hours * Use appropriate methodologies when working with students such as Applied Behavior Analysis orCollaborative Problem Solving or any agreed-upon method which acts in the best interest of the
student * Collaborate with other professionals including a speech therapist, physical therapists, occupationaltherapists, psychologists, behavior specialists, and vocational directors to create a team approach * Perform other related work as required1
