- Tends fabricating machines such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, and punch, that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures.
- Plan pipe system layout and installation according to engineering blueprint specifications.
- Inspect, examine and test installed pipelines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation or other methods per QAS specifications.
- Measure and mark pipes for cutting or threading.
- Attach pipes to walls, structures or fixtures using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.
- Assemble or secure pipes, tubes, fittings, or related equipment, according to specifications by threading joints or compression fittings.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; Associate degree or Technical College Degree is preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in pipefitting, tool and die maker, (i.e. mechanical, shop class, maintenance) field which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Possess knowledge and experience managing welding equipment and tools.
- Previous experience within the regulated industry (pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology, consumer industry) is highly preferred.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate equipment, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk, or hear; sit; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and smell. The employee may lift and/or move up to 25-35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- He / she may frequently work inside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, exposed to wet and or humid conditions, and an odorous atmosphere, may be exposed to fumes and the risk of electrical shock, and occasionally work on ladders in high places, in small spaces, such as lift/metering stations, manholes, tanks and wet wells. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
