JOB OPPORTUNITY. Steel and Pipes, Inc., has 1 position available as a Civil Engineer Structural Steel Project Manager to work at Road 1 KM. 27.5, Rio Cañas Ward, Caguas, PR . Our company has a long and successful history of serving the industrial steel market in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.The position responsible for the planning, coordination, execution and technical control of projects involving the fabrication of metallic structures, from the design phase until they are delivered to the company's clients. The position requires knowledge of structural standards, procedures followed in construction, and quality control of structural steel. The main tasks of the civil engineer include: coordinates structural design of metallic structures with engineers, architects, and contractors, review and approve shop drawings, fabrication details, and "as built" drawings, supervises compliance with AIWS/AWS specifications during the fabrication and installation of metallic structures, controls project schedule and budget, prepares technical and progress reports, RFIs and NCRs, guarantees the source of materials, welding, and weld overlay, coordinates quality control and assurance inspections and related documentation, promotes the improvement of design and installation procedures, designs and analyzes welded and bolted connections, evaluates buckling, deflection, and structural stability of metallic structures.The candidate must travel by motor vehicle at least two times per week to project sites throughout the island of Puerto Rico to inspect the installation of the steel structures designed and built by the company. The position will supervise 60 structural iron and steel workers which raise, place, and unite iron or steel girders, columns, and other structural members to form completed structures or structural frameworks, and 5 drafters, which prepare detailed drawings of architectural and structural features of buildings or drawings and topographical relief maps used in civil engineering projects.Minimum education: Bachelor's degree in civil or industrial engineering. Experience: at least 48 months prior experience in civil engineering focused on design, fabrication or installation of steel structures. Special requirements: Candidate must have a certification in structural steel design or structural analysis, or postgraduate studies in either area. Wage offered: $74, per year.
