Job DescriptionDuties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety Program of the assigned project or projects.
  • Perform the Safety Risk Analysis of the Assigned Project or scheduled project works.
  • Develop and instruct employees and subcontractors on safety standards and maintain records of such training.
  • Supervise that all construction work and activities on the Project are carried out following all safety standards.
  • Ensure and promote that supervisors carry out the Safe Task Analysis (STA) procedure routinely and correctly, every day.
  • Supervise and ensure that all employees use Personal Safety Equipment at all times.
  • Ensure sufficient personal safety equipment is available in inventory, and coordinate the delivery of this equipment to new employees, and/or replacement of this equipment when necessary.
  • Review and monitor subcontractors' safety activities.
  • Conduct Tool Box Safety Meetings with the entire team, record attendance, and keep a record of the meetings held. Promote supervisor and manager participation and support them in their mentoring role.
  • Regularly brief and communicate with the Project Manager and/or Supervisor about any irregular situations, procedural deviations, or observations related to occupational safety.
  • Conduct self-audits, reports, and communications; monitor and record incidents, accidents, and situations related to the occupational safety of the project.
  • Attend project team or client meetings when requested.
  • Utilize knowledge of safety and electrical risks, including high voltage, to supervise construction-related work on the Project.
  • Utilize experience and knowledge to mitigate, correct, and eliminate risks on the project.
  • Respond to and report incidents, including but not limited to: safety violations, injuries, illnesses, near misses, equipment malfunctions, and any other matters related to the occupational or environmental safety of the assigned project or projects.
  • Provide assistance and/or first aid when necessary, for which current First Aid and CPR certification is required.
  • Notify the Health and Safety Coordinator and Project Manager immediately upon the occurrence or awareness of any incident on the assigned project.
  • Warn or recommend disciplinary action when safety violations are identified on the project.
  • Continuously participate in ongoing education and training related to Health and Safety, always aiming to transfer and apply acquired knowledge to improve your work, company processes, and develop a safety culture among all employees and colleagues.
  • Any other tasks related to the position as assigned.
OSHA Certified Trainer:
  • As assigned, perform tasks related to training new employees and providing annual and ongoing retraining to existing employees to ensure they acquire the skills, knowledge, and awareness of the importance of accident and occupational disease prevention.
  • Assist the EHS Coordinator and Manager in 30-hour and 10-hour OSHA Construction Industry Certification training.
  • Assist in the development of Rigging Plans.
  • Certify employees for the safe use and operation of Heavy Equipment.
Requirements:
  • 30-hour OSHA Construction, Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field, 1 year of professional experience, and OSHA Outreach Training Certification, or
  • 30-hour OSHA Construction and 3 years of professional experience in a similar or related position, OSHA Outreach Training Certification, or
  • 30-hour OSHA Construction certification, High School Diploma, and 5 years of professional experience in a similar or related construction position, and OSHA Outreach Training Certification.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; use of emails and navigation on OSHA and related web pages.
  • Current certification and/or availability and ability to certify in first aid and CPR, as well as willingness to provide assistance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, and active listening ability to understand.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in Spanish, preferably also in English.
  • Ability to provide formal guidance and training to groups.
  • Proven leadership, initiative, and sense of urgency skills.
  • Ability to supervise, discipline fairly, and make decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Organizational ability and time management to establish priorities.
  • Availability to work overtime and weekends if required.
  • Capability and availability to serve as an emergency coordinator on the assigned project and respond to emergencies or natural disasters.
  • Ability to remain calm in moments of crisis, tension, or emergencies.
